Meet Claes Eklund – Turning Dreams Into Music

I’ve dreamed of being a musician for as long as I can remember. As a child and teenager, I wrote lyrics constantly, imagining the songs I wanted to hear, to play, and to sing. But there were obstacles. I never had a “performable” voice, I couldn’t play an instrument, and money for lessons or equipment was always out of reach.

Instead, I became a computer nerd with a rock attitude. I spent hours learning technology, exploring software, and experimenting with digital tools. And over time, I discovered that computers and AI could give me the freedom to create the music I had always imagined — without needing a traditional band or studio setup.

All my life, I’ve written lyrics that, until recently, existed only on paper. Sadly, much of what I wrote in the past is gone after an accident in a storage space destroyed my old notebooks. But that didn’t stop me.

Today, I create music for myself first and foremost — as a personal expression, a way to explore emotion, storytelling, and sound. But it’s also exciting to share it with others, to see if it resonates, to give my words and ideas a life outside of my own head.

Through projects like Velvet Scars and the many musical characters I’ve developed — from industrial metal to punk, rockabilly, and experimental rock — I explore how the same lyrics can become completely different songs depending on voice, style, and interpretation. AI helps me experiment, generate ideas, and shape sound, but the creative decisions always come from me.

This is how a childhood dream finds its voice today: through curiosity, technology, and persistence. And maybe, just maybe, others will enjoy these songs as much as I enjoy creating them.
