Saturday’s Code

Saturday’s Code

Red fins glowing in the city light
Cadillac hums like it wants a fight
Chrome so clean you could shave on the side
Conny leans back, takin’ in the ride

Beer in his lap, boots on the dash
Downtown’s poppin’, full tank and cash
Old crew posted, same ol’ square
All eyes turn when that Caddy flares

One girl stumbles, heels in her hand
Cops move in with the cuffs in hand
But Conny steps up, cool as ice
“Back off boys, she’s one of mine”

We take care of our own, that’s the rule
Even when we’re loud and drunk and cool
She’ll sleep it off in the leather seat
While the bassline bangs and we own the street
Saturday’s code, loud and clear
No one’s left behind when the gang is near

Cans in the gutter, shirts off and proud
Girls show skin just to stir the crowd
One lifts her skirt just to catch a ride
Gets in the Chevy, grins wide-eyed

Folk get mad, say we’re too much
But the beat’s too loud, the groove too clutch
Some try to chase, some wanna flee
But deep down, they all wanna be me

Cops still lurk but they know the deal
We’re dirty, but our hearts are real
That girl’s asleep in the backseat now
And we still dance like we don’t know how

We take care of our own, that’s the rule
Even when we’re loud and drunk and cool
She’ll sleep it off in the leather seat
While the bassline bangs and we own the street
Saturday’s code, loud and clear
No one’s left behind when the gang is near

Smoke in the air and the moon hangs low
Whiskey breath and that Cadillac glow
She’s out cold but safe and warm
While the night keeps spinning in raggar form

We take care of our own, that’s the rule
Even when we’re loud and drunk and cool
She’ll sleep it off in the leather seat
While the bassline bangs and we own the street
Saturday’s code, you don’t forget
Respect the crew or you’ll lose that bet
