Upcoming EP: Ash in My Blood

Velvet Scars’ next EP, Ash in My Blood, dives deep into loss, longing, and personal struggle through the lens of multiple characters, each interpreting the same song in unique ways. The lead track, written with the character Gravel Stone in mind, embodies grit, intimacy, and desolation. With six distinct versions, the EP explores how the same lyrics and themes can take on entirely different emotional textures depending on voice, style, and perspective.

The EP will be released on all streaming platforms on January 30.

Gravel Stone Version

Gritty, intimate, and desolate. Electric guitars with dusty slide licks, minimal drums, and deep bass create a raw, haunting atmosphere. Vocals are close-miked and confessional, carrying the weight of loss and scars. This version feels like walking alone through shadows and memories, with every note soaked in tension and grit.

Father Echo Version

Dark, cinematic, and ritualistic. Spoken-word vocals float over ambient-metal drones, metallic textures, and sparse percussion. The mood is ominous and introspective, drawing the listener into a world of haunted reflection and shadowed landscapes.

Nova B Version

Warm, intimate, and nostalgic. Soft acoustic guitar, gentle pedal steel, and subtle percussion frame a fragile, breathy vocal. This version turns the same story into a reflective, heartfelt ballad, where melancholy and vulnerability shine through every note.

ELVIK Version

Raw disco-punk energy with 70s-inspired grooves. Fast, danceable beats, gritty bass, funky guitar stabs, and chaotic drums create a rebellious, post-apocalyptic atmosphere. Raspy, expressive vocals alternate between spoken verses and melodic choruses, full of emotion, defiance, and human imperfection.

Lux Noir Version

Sensual, nocturnal, and hypnotic. Trip-hop beats, deep bass, distorted synths, and atmospheric textures provide a dark, immersive backdrop. Whispered, intimate vocals convey longing, melancholy, and quiet confidence, drawing the listener into a velvet-shadowed world of emotion.

Vidar Kolbrand Version

Slow, intimate, and raw. Acoustic guitar and close-miked vocals create a late-night, reflective atmosphere. The performance is unpolished and human, alternating between quiet introspection and emotional intensity, capturing the song’s core feeling of struggle, regret, and resilience.
