Waiting – A Song Born From a Real Experience

Some songs begin with an idea. Others begin with something that actually happened.

“Waiting” is one of those songs.

The story started with chest pain, a call for help, and an ambulance ride to the emergency department. The urgency of getting there was followed by something very different: waiting.

Waiting to be examined. Waiting for answers. Waiting to find out whether there was something seriously wrong or whether it would turn out to be nothing.

Sitting in a hospital under fluorescent lights gives you plenty of time to think. You notice the other patients. You watch nurses walk past. You look at the clock. And, whether you want to or not, your mind starts creating its own stories.

That mixture of uncertainty, anxiety and dark humor became the inspiration for “Waiting.”

The song moves between intimate, restrained verses and powerful dark rock choruses, combining live rock drums, distorted guitars, deep pulsing synth bass and atmospheric electronic textures. The lyrics stay personal, but there is also a deliberately dry and sometimes absurd sense of humor running through the story.

It isn’t simply a song about being in a hospital. It’s about what happens inside your head when you don’t have an answer — and all you can do is wait.
