That Smile You Gave Me

That Smile You Gave Me

She slipped into the Toyota, no glance back at all,
but just before the door slammed, she turned —
gave me a wicked smile, not like before, no innocent call.
Not like when we used to wink and play after a quick haul.
That smile was sharp — like she wasn’t the same girl anymore,
like she knew exactly what she craved — and wasn’t blind.

Josie — my wild sister, my partner in lust —
she looked calm but fierce, so damn sure in her trust.
Not stumbling drunk, but like she’d found what she’d missed,
a hunger she’d finally stopped hiding.
And me? I just stood there, letting it all sink in.

And me? I just stood there, watching the flames burn,
no jealousy, no sting — just a hot, aching turn.
Like something raw just happened —
and it wasn’t with me, but I didn’t care.
’Cause I want the night,
windows down, engine roaring, no plans at all.
and no chains, no promises to keep me tied or mean.

Cammy came back, lips smeared and wild,
jacket inside out — her signature style.
“Did you see Josie?” she asked with a sly grin.
I just nodded. “She left. With him. Guess the night’s still young.”
Cammy blinked. “Wait, the Toyota guy?”
I smiled sharp. “Yeah. And somehow it felt like she’d fly.”

We stood at the roadside, just the two of us alone,
cars buzzing past like moths to a porch light.
Something in the air had changed forever —
The night didn’t end there. It had only started.

The Smile She’d Never Seen

I slipped into the Toyota, never looked behind,
but just before the door slammed, I turned —
gave her a smile she hadn’t seen before,
not the teasing grin we’d shared after reckless nights.
This time it hit different —
like I finally quit pretending I didn’t know what I wanted.

I could still feel my sister watching me,
trying to figure out what she’d just seen.
I wasn’t drunk, wasn’t chasing a thrill.
I was breathing deeper than usual,
following the feeling I’d kept buried for years.
and for once I didn’t feel ashamed.

As the headlights pulled away,
I caught one last glimpse of her standing there.
Her eyes held no anger, just a quiet understanding,
no reason for me to turn back.
She already knew something had changed —
and it felt right.

‘Cause I want this night,
windows down, engine roaring, no plans at all.
And if this turns into something real,
I won’t be the one to run away.

The road stretched out beneath the tires,
city lights fading in the mirror.
I wondered if Cammy would ask where I’d gone,
if my sister would tell her with that knowing smile.
Maybe they’d laugh.
Maybe they’d understand.
Either way, I wasn’t looking back.
The night didn’t end there. It had only started.
